Robbie Williams - You know me

© by Jutta Schütz (September 2011)

Ever-changing heights and depths of the musician, entertainer and artist accompany the exceptional as well as unprecedented career.
His book is a wonderful and well-illustrated report on the many facets of the artist, with many insights into the private life of hedonistic Robert Peter Williams.

You know me.
Here, Rob does not seem to be a wise man, but he is far from the unstable, insecure and hyper-sensitive type who is described in the biography "Feel". Chris Heath always manages to write in a way that you get the feeling you were sitting next to Rob.
In addition to numerous photos we find a lot of the singer's anecdotes. All major stations of Robbie Williams' career can be found in the book: The Take That-era as well as the recent reunion, video shoots and backstage concert photos, at the MTV Movie Awards, as incarnated Rock DJ, cover photo shoots, Royal Albert Hall , Knebworth, and much more.
Dimensions such as in 2003 in Knebworth/England are almost "normal" with Robbie Williams. Since 1996, he got over 70 prestigious awards for his performances, and he is one of the most successful stars of all times. Of course, the book also sheds light on the elapsed Take That-time and explains from Robbie's point of view how it came to the Reunion 2010, beginning with Gary Barlow and 'Shame'.
Escapades, withdrawal cures or sexual anecdotes are reported - nothing is concealed in the book, but naturally enriched with a constant breeze of British humor, often in short, succinct lines of text. The book is less text-heavy, although everything important is of course said. Above all, it looks like a family album by the multitude of photographs from all walks of life.
Of course we know that today an image is made by professionals. At his side, there are many consultants and marketing professionals who struggle continually to produce and spread a concrete image of the artist primarily for promotional benefits. And despite all this, this book is a great feast for the eyes with memorable texts and images such as those about the legendary concert at Knebworth in 2003, which shows how difficult it must be to cope with such a success without totally leaving ground.
The book divided into chapters and sorted in chronological order, Chris and Rob tell funny anecdotes and adventures, beginning with the solo career up to the reunion with Take That.
As in every book, you can find a point of criticism:
It's the texts that were written into the pictures.
I personally would have preferred a separated text.
Nevertheless, every page of this book is simply a must have for all Robbie Williams fans just because of the beautiful photographs.
You needn't tell much about the author - everyone knows him.
But some insider info is perhaps not yet known to many fans.
The 16-year-old school dropouts also failed as a window salesman, and then he made a note to become famous. He would drive a white Porsche to pick up his buddies. His guidance counselor had suggested him to go to the army, which he denied. So he became a pop star.
Robbie Williams has since been successful worldwide and has sold a total of over 68 million records. He received 15 Brit Awards and an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records for 1.6 million tickets sold in one day.
He is the one pop star who is constantly changing - sometimes he serves us tearjerkers, then swing, and then afterwards dry electro and hip hop - to end up again with the big pop sensation. There is not only one, but quite a lot of Robbies.
Hats off for Robbie Williams.
A few words about Chris Heath: He is an English music journalist and published the biography "Literally" about the Pet Shop Boys. He also wrote the bestselling "Feel" about Robbie Williams, which was translated into several languages and published worldwide.

All of a sudden: Diabetes All of a sudden: Diabetes

Are you Diabetic?

Hope for diabetics

It is evident for everybody that the disease diabetes type two doesn’t suddenly fall from heaven but nevertheless it hits the patient like a hammer which also affects his soul. This is perhaps the reason why these people completely thoughtless go under medical care, instead of looking for an additional alternative that might help them.

The book "All of a sudden: Diabetes! - How I fought this disease with Low Carb 2nd edition revised 2010” differs significantly from the diabetic books that are written from the perspective of doctors and scientists.
The author, affected herself, tells her story from the first day of diabetes diagnosis until the point where she could say that she weathered the storm diabetes. It’s the innovative character of her theories that invites you to protest or to self-test and allow a broad discussion.
The author doesn’t want to persuade her readers into doing low-carb, but at least everyone with diabetes (type two) to think about it.
The book definitely offers the optimal dose of information and inspiration for people who want to control their blood sugar levels with a diet. The diet "low carb" is actually amazingly simple. It leaves out the carbohydrates, thus creating room for a healthy diet rich in vegetables, some fruit, nuts, dairy products, meat and fish.
Surely Diabetes (Type Two) or any other civilization's disease could be prevented if more people were better informed how absurd it is to eat too many carbohydrates.
But what makes this book so unbeatable: It is easy to read. Here you can start immediately with your change of diet.
Schütz informs factual and informative about the basis of low carb and gives valuable tips on how to change diet successfully.
The book encourages and doesn’t convey only dry, theoretical knowledge.
This revolutionary diet is recommended not only to all diabetics, but to all other interested persons.
It explains a lot and you wonder why all this is not better advertised elsewhere. It's not about starvation and furthermore, the book is not like the Bible with its ten commandments. It’s a kind of understandable explanation of the low carb diet.
In Weltbild.de you can read that this book "All of a sudden: Diabetes!" (Publisher: tredition, Hamburg) is a self-help book that everyone who has the strong blood sugar fluctuations should read.
In the first third of her book the author writes down her thoughts and experiences in a diary-like style. She describes very impressively the doubts and hopes she had during her time as a diabetic. Hence there are a lot of low carb recipes.

Low Carb stabilizes blood glucose values even without weight loss
© by Jutta Schütz
Is the treatment of type 2 diabetic patients perhaps unwanted?
Diabetic patients aren’t enlightened enough by their doctors!
Sweden's Jorgen Nielsen documented in studies that a low carbohydrate diet (Low Carb) stabilized the blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetic patients even without weight loss.

Again and again type 2 diabetics hear from their doctors that the disease is not curable. This statement is only true for type 1 diabetes.
Nowadays there are a lot of studies worldwide (eg, the German Institute of Human Nutrition in Potsdam DIfE), proving that it’s not the fat, but to many carbohydrates that damage the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas.
Unfortunately, diabetics seldom hear that a long-term insulin therapy (Diabetes Type 2) may increase the risk of colorectal cancer or lead to cardiovascular diseases.
Don’t the doctors have time any more for an intensive conversation or is it just because of their convenience?
The diabetic's disease is a billion dollar business - for doctors, pharmaceutical industry, but also for the business of the food industry and related companies who unfortunately plunge now even on low carb.
Many diabetics trainings and continuing medical education in Germany are paid by the pharmaceutical industry - so "non-drug measures" seem to be “non-existing”, they are simply ignored because of the profit.
Unfortunately, the drug investigator and diabetes expert: Prof. Dr. med Peter Sawicki - head of the independent Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (examines and tests medicines and therapies on their cost and effectiveness) must go now. He stopped some drugs - to the annoyance of the pharmaceutical industry.

Low Carb is quite simple to practice. It takes no medications and no special products to buy - you simply reduce the carbohydrates in your daily meals.
If type two-diabetics do without bread (and everything baked with flour - even pasta), potatoes, rice (starchy) and of course without sugar, the sugar levels reduce after only 3 weeks.
Of course, the doctor will not be thrilled at the beginning, but diabetic patients are not discouraged and may even contradict their doctor if it serves their health. The blood test will confirm this!
If diabetics (type 2) already take drugs they have to control their blood sugar levels often during this time and probably reduce the drugs slowly with their doctor.
